Privacy Policy

PDFMorpher is operated by Nexora Labs LLC ("we", "us") and is built "client-side first": the documents you edit, convert, merge, compress or compare are processed inside your web browser, on your device. This policy explains the few cases where data leaves your device, and what we keep.
1. Your documents
When you open a file from your device, it is read and processed entirely in your browser. Compression, conversion, OCR, comparison (visual diff), summaries, translation and editing all run on your device, in the page itself or in background browser threads (Web Workers). Your files are not uploaded to our servers, and we cannot see them.
Two features necessarily involve other systems:
- Import from a web link. Most websites don't let browsers download files directly, so our server downloads the PDF from the link you provide and passes it straight to your browser. The file is not stored. Our hosting provider may log technical request details (such as IP address, time and the requested link) for security and operations.
- Google Drive, Dropbox and Microsoft OneDrive. If you open a file from one of these services, you sign in with that provider, which handles your credentials under its own privacy policy. PDFMorpher only gets access to the file you pick, and it is downloaded to your browser. If a provider's link cannot be downloaded directly, it is fetched through our server as described above, without being stored.
2. Information stored in your browser
Some features keep data in your browser's own storage (local storage, session storage and IndexedDB) on your device. None of it is uploaded to us or saved in a remote database:
- Recent Files. When you download a result while signed in, a copy of that file is kept in your browser's IndexedDB so you can download it again or reopen it from your dashboard (your most recent files only; the oldest are removed first). You can delete one file or the whole list at any time from the dashboard ("Clear all"), or by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. Because these copies stay on your device, anyone who can use your browser profile could access them: clear the list on shared computers.
- Temporary work. If signing in or upgrading interrupts your work, the open document and your edits are kept in the browser until you return (deleted after use, or after 30 minutes to 2 hours). Very large files may be stored temporarily in pieces for the same reason.
- Preferences. Your language and light/dark theme.
- Subscription. If you subscribe, your Stripe subscription identifier and when it was last confirmed. It is sent to our server only to confirm with Stripe that your subscription is still active.
The full list is in our Cookie Policy. Downloads require a free account. Our authentication provider, Clerk, stores your account details and, with them, how many free downloads you used this month, your plan and, for Team plans, your team's members, so your plan works on every device. Nothing about your files is stored with your account.
3. Payments
All payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe's checkout page and never reach our servers. Stripe processes recurring charges for monthly and yearly subscriptions and keeps your invoice and payment history. You can update your payment method, download invoices, change or cancel your plan through the Stripe Customer Portal, opened with "Manage billing" in your dashboard. Stripe shares with us the status of your subscription and the details needed to manage it (such as the email address used at checkout). Stripe's processing is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
4. Third-party services your browser contacts
- unpkg.com, a public content-delivery network, which serves components of the PDF engine (pdf.js).
- Clerk, our sign-in provider, when you sign in or use your account.
- Stripe, when you open checkout or the billing portal.
- Google, Dropbox or Microsoft, only when you choose to open a file from them.
These services receive your IP address and standard browser information, as with any website request.
5. Cookies and tracking
We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not set tracking cookies. The only cookies on our site are essential sign-in cookies set by Clerk to keep you signed in. Stripe and cloud-storage providers may set cookies on their own pages when you use them. Details are in our Cookie Policy.
6. Data retention and security
We do not store your documents on our servers. Copies kept in your browser (Recent Files) stay until you delete them. Account details are kept by Clerk until you delete your account. Billing records are kept by Stripe as required for accounting and legal purposes. Connections to PDFMorpher are encrypted (HTTPS).
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. Because we hold very little personal data, most requests concern billing records; contact us and we will respond within the time the law requires.
8. Children
PDFMorpher is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
9. Changes
We will update this page if our practices change, and change the date at the top.
