Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 2026
PDFMorpher sets no cookies of its own and uses no advertising or analytics trackers. The few settings it needs are kept in your browser's local storage, only to make the site work.
1. Introduction & Overview
This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies (such as your browser's local storage) are used when you visit PDFMorpher, why, and how you can control them. It complements our Privacy Policy.
Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to store and send back with later requests. Local storage and IndexedDB are similar browser features, but what they hold stays in your browser: it is not sent with requests to our servers.
2. Our Client-Side Privacy Commitment
PDFMorpher's PDF tools run inside your browser. The documents you open are processed in your device's memory and are not uploaded to our servers, so there is no document data to attach a cookie to.
- The only cookies on our site are essential sign-in cookies set by our authentication provider, Clerk, to keep you signed in. We set no advertising or analytics cookies.
- We do not use tracking pixels, fingerprinting or cross-site tracking.
- We do not sell or share browsing data with advertisers.
Because we only use cookies and storage that are strictly necessary for the site to work, and none of it is used for tracking, there is no cookie banner to accept.
3. What We Store
Essential local storage
These cookies and values are needed for the site to work as you expect. Apart from the sign-in cookies, which are sent to our server so it knows you are signed in, they stay in your browser.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__session | Cookie | Keeps you signed in: a short-lived token from Clerk, our sign-in provider. | Short-lived; renewed while you are signed in |
__client_uat | Cookie | When you last signed in or out, so the site knows whether to check your sign-in with Clerk. | Until you sign out or it expires |
theme | Local storage | Your light or dark appearance setting (dark unless you switch). | Until you change it or clear site data |
documorph_locale | Local storage | The interface language you picked (one of 26). Without it, we follow your browser's language. | Until you change it or clear site data |
documorph.pro | Local storage | Only if you subscribe: your Stripe subscription identifier and when it was last confirmed active. | While your subscription is active |
documorph · recent_documents | IndexedDB | Recent Files: copies of the files you downloaded while signed in, so you can download or reopen them from your dashboard. Never uploaded. | Until you delete them (dashboard → Clear all) or clear site data; the oldest are removed as new ones are added |
keyval-store | IndexedDB | Only if you use OCR: the text-recognition language data, cached so it isn't downloaded again. | Until you clear site data |
documorph · drafts | IndexedDB | Only if signing in or upgrading interrupts your work: the open document, your edits or the files you were working on, so they survive if the page reloads. Kept in this browser, never sent anywhere. | Deleted after use, or after 30 to 60 minutes |
documorph · file_chunks | IndexedDB | Very large files, kept in pieces for the same reason as above. Never uploaded. | Deleted after use, or after 2 hours at most |
documorph_pending_export | Session storage | That a download is waiting for you to sign in. | Until the download, or until you close the tab |
documorph_pending_task | Session storage | That work is waiting to be restored after you upgrade. | Until it is restored, or until you close the tab |
documorph_pending_checkout | Session storage | That a Team plan checkout (seats and billing period) is waiting for you to sign in. | Until checkout starts, or until you close the tab |
The subscription identifier in documorph.pro is sent to our server only to confirm with Stripe that your subscription is still active. Your browser also caches the files that make up the app, as it does for any website.
Analytics and performance (optional)
We currently use no analytics or performance-monitoring tools. If we add them in the future, they will be optional and off until you agree, limited to aggregated, non-identifiable measurements (never your documents), and listed on this page before they are switched on.
4. Third-Party Services
Some features connect to other companies, only when you use them. They may set their own cookies on their own domains, under their own policies; PDFMorpher cannot read or control them.
- Clerk (sign-in): when you sign in or manage your account, Clerk's sign-in forms load from Clerk, which sets the essential cookies listed above. See the Clerk privacy policy.
- Google Drive: when you open a file from Drive, Google's sign-in and file picker load from Google. See the Google cookie policy.
- Dropbox: the Dropbox Chooser loads from Dropbox when you pick a file from it. See the Dropbox cookie policy.
- Microsoft OneDrive: the OneDrive file picker and Microsoft sign-in load from Microsoft. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Stripe: if you upgrade or open "Manage billing", you use Stripe's checkout page or Customer Portal, on Stripe's own domains, which use cookies for payment and fraud prevention. See the Stripe cookie policy.
Parts of the PDF and text-recognition engines are downloaded from the public content-delivery networks unpkg and jsDelivr, and Chrome's built-in AI features may download their models from Google. Like any web request, these receive your IP address and standard browser information; your documents are never sent to them.
5. Managing & Disabling Cookies
You can view, block or delete cookies and site data (including local storage and IndexedDB) in your browser's settings:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data. To clear only this site, use Site settings → View permissions and data stored across sites.
- Apple Safari: on a Mac, Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data. On iPhone or iPad, Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data. To clear only this site, use Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.
The tools keep working if you block storage, but blocking cookies for this site stops you from signing in, which downloads require. Without local storage, your theme and language reset on each visit, Recent Files are not kept, and the OCR language data is downloaded again when needed. Blocking third-party cookies may stop the Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive pickers from signing in.
